    Martin Lehmann, PhD, is assistant professor at the Department of Development & Planning, Aalborg University, in the field of sustainable regional development and environmental management. His research interests include cleaner production, institutional & organisational change, and innovation systems; in particular their (inter-)relations to sustainable development and networks & partnerships. He is focusing his research on industrialised as well as developing countries, especially Thailand, where he has long first hand working experience.

    Søren Løkke is Associate Professor at the Department of Development and Planning at Aalborg University. PhD. He work with analysis of  political processes and environmental, chemical and ecotoxicological problems. Environmental management, life cycle assessment and carbon footprint methods takes centre stage in the most resent activities. He is chair of the Environmental Management Steering Committee at Aalborg University.

    Dr. Holger Gulyas is a lecturer in the Institute Wastewater Management and Water Protection. His research is focused in characterisation of organic compounds in treatment plant effluents, elimination of "Residual COD" and investigation of modern wastewater treatment processes as potential elements of ecological sanitation concepts.

    Since March 1st, 2011 Professor Koester has been working at the Institute of Wastewater Management and Water Protection of Hamburg University of Technology. He investigates and assesses innovative approaches and technologies which may serve as contribution to a sustainable urban development. His research especially focuses on the urban water cycle - considering relevant trends such as demographic or climatic change. This includes for example the improvement of urban drainage systems, the testing of innovative wastewater treatment and reuse solutions as well as technologies for the removal of trace pollutants at urban hot spots.

    Kerstin Kuchta is Professor in Waste Resources Management, Institute of Environmental Technology and Energy Economics at the Hamburg University of Technology, TUHH. Her research focusses on resources recycling, waste treatment techniques and management systems especially for precious and rare earths metals and energy recovery.

  • Dr. Ludwig Tent
    Dr. Ludwig Tent, hydrobiologist and fisheries scientist, is an external lecturer in the Institute Wastewater Management and Water Protection.
    His research focused on wastewater improvements for the Hamburg Elbe stretch, necessary ecological improvements of how to deal with contaminated sediments in the Port of Hamburg and restoration of lowland brooks. He leads the Environmental Protection Division of the Hamburg district of Wandsbek, co-operating with engaged citizens in river restoration .

    Full Professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Aveiro. During more nearly 30 years working on environmental problems, he is serving Portugal on a number of international scientific boards and committees (EC, NATO, ESF…), as well as national representations and evaluation panels. He was Minister of Environment (1991 to 1994), Vice-Rector of the University of Aveiro (1998-2002) and presently is the President of the Department of Environment and Planning. He is also Director of the European Association for the Science of Air Pollution - EURASAP. As coordinator of the Research Group on Emissions, Modelling and Climate Change, the main interests are on environmental impact assessment, air quality numerical modelling and management, modelling of exposure to atmospheric pollutants and related human health. As Director of the Institute for Environment and Development - IDAD, the interface unit of University of Aveiro and CESAM for cooperation with the Society, develops professional consulting and project activities.

With a degree in Environmental Engineering and a Ph.D. in Sciences Applied to the Environment she is currently co-coordinating the Research Group “Emissions, Modelling and Climate Change” (GEMAC), which integrates 17 researchers. Her main research interests are the air quality (particularly in urban areas), wildland forest fires, and climate change effects at the regional scale.
